These satellite images of Spain are more than just a little reminiscent of China. They show Iberian ghost cities. Ghost airports. Ghost highways. A ghost high speed rail system. Of course, the Chinese ghost cities are far larger, but the scope of Spain’s problems may be proportionately larger.
It’s all a house of cards. And the higher they build it, the shakier the whole structure becomes.
You can see more photos of the Spanish ghost cities at the Business Insider link below.

This is what happens, when you stop having children.
Thanky Thanky for all this good imnforation!
Hope this can be picked up by more people and aknowledge the fact that so called overpopulation is just a lie, a malthusian scheme favored by the Clube of Rome and Prince Philip’s Wildlife Fund. This particular group favors obtaining government subsidies for wind and solar energy, which are anti-production, anti-industry. They are very much dependent on weather, eat up a lot of land which could be used for food, expensive and high maintenance. To maintain a global population in a condition resembling a modern 21st Century standard of living will require an installed electrical generating capacity of at least 3 to 5 kilowatts per capita. Today only the United States, Japan, and a few countries of western Europe even approximate this level of generating capacity. The US alone has thorium reserves of 440.000 tones and there are a lot more deposits under the US and in other parts of the world. Molten salt thorium fission reactors are the future of fission power. As for the iminent food crisis, the WTO needs to be dumped and farmers in the third world need to be helped, not sabotaged like they are today, in order for these countries to regain some of their former selfsufficiency in food production.
Umm, overpopulation does exist. Just because people don’t live in certain cities does not mean they do not exist. There are way too many people in the world. Most global economists, and I don’t mean the idiots of the WTO, believe this earth is ideally meant for 2-3 billion people to live in happy co-existence with nature. They, of course, mean, living in places where there is sufficient arable land, water and a low incidence of natural disasters. These places exist, hell, I grew up in one.
China built cities hoping to spur a largely rural based population into what it deemed a more suitable life style. The population has mostly ignored that cultural directive and remained largely rural. It’s easier to make a living when your community produces almost everything it needs.
Spain has some serious water issues so I doubt that is helping matters.
The human population relative to the Earth’s available/currently available land mass is not enough to be called overpopulation. Those malthusiand indoctrinates who think that only 2-3 billion human beings are the ideal for any policymaker, ideologue, or religious institution. There is no such thing as living with nature in ballance. Nature is constantly changing, not only from its own volition, but with the help of extraterrestrial forces as well (cosmic radiation and other astrophysical and astrochemical processes). The dinosaurs lived in “peace” with nature, and nature wiped them off, so were other 90% of all the species that have ever lived on this planet and they too lived in “peace” with nature. Mankind’s destiny is not live on a single planet, but carry the seeds of life to other hospitable planets/satelites. Nobody wants to help develop poor countries and make their citizens productive, because that would mean and end to necolonialism ,exploitation and that would mean one more competitor for the oligarchical empire in the future.
After a seriously obese person has had fat removal procedures, his/her flesh sags where excess fat used to be. World population should never have risen this high. It will be reduced. Through lower birth rates; or by more traditional means: war, disease, famine, cannabalism. I’m not a liberal; I don’t think the West should commit demographic suicide. Other societies had better realize that America won’t be able to send foreign aid, in any form, much longer. And plan accordingly. Not just population policies. In the Mideast(which dried up after the last ice age) water and farm land have always been scarce. And will remain so. Their scientists had better devote their talents to devising ways of desalinating enough water for all their needs, using solar power. Instead of their fetish on nuclear weapons. Any Mideast country that uses nuclear weapons on its’ neighbor will have to deal with the consequences when the wind blows the radioactive debris back in their direction.
Try sticking to the focus of the article. You’re all over the place – and you need to learn how to spell. Please realize that throwing a bunch of overwrought jargon around (malthusian this, idealogue that) doesn’t suffice to make you sound intelligent; neither does spouting a bunch of completely irrelevant, “super-scientific” statistics constitute a coherent argument. It only makes us wonder if you may have some form of Tourettes. Unless you’re a 14-year-old, in which case you might like to find a community of your peers in which to vent your burgeoning philosophical and political opinions. MySpace, perhaps?
